LVIV — A work by Vlada Ralko, one of the most influential contemporary Ukrainian artists, found a new owner at the sixth auction of the "Mercury" house. The first bid was placed during the preliminary bidding phase, confirming collectors' high interest in the artist even before the main auction began. The lot went under the hammer for $9,700.
"Our institution already has a history of interaction with the artist: about two years ago, we acquired works from her iconic series 'Kyiv Diary'," — noted the "Mercury" auction house. This time, it was a work from the artist's new series "Sweet Dreams."
Experts note a significant transformation in the Ukrainian art market. While collectors previously preferred classical painting and works by the Sixties artists, the situation is now changing.
